Senior Bridge/Structural Engineer

1. He shall be responsible for all bridge works, reinforced concrete box culverts, reinforced concrete pipe culverts and associated works for slope and scour protection ... etc.
2. He shall review the design drawings and supply the Contractor with any additional details required for the proper execution of the work.
3. The bridge engineer shall be assisted by an Inspector and shall coordinate with the surveyor for the
4. setting out of structures: locations, alignments and levels .
5. He shall also coordinate and review with the material engineer the compliance of materials with specifications, the concrete mix designs, the quality control tests for produced concrete at manufacturing stage, while transported, placed and cured
6. He shall review the methodology and sequence of execution of the different components of structures.
7. He shall check the working drawings submitted by Contractor for Contractor's formwork designs; precast concrete and cast in -situ concrete items and the adequacy of plant, equipment, forms ... etc.
8. He shall review construction plans for transportation and erection of precast units,
9. He shall check scaffolding, shuttering and forms, arrangements of steel bars, bridge bearings, joints, railing ... etc. and give his approval for casting and/or Issuance of site instruction as required for the works progress.
10. He shall keep daily records of all activities of the contractor in execution of the drainage structures. All measurements records and computation of quantities for the concrete works, pipe works and masonry works shall be taken under the supervision of the bridge engineer and in accordance to his approval.
11. Further items to be considered by the bridge engineer.
a. Protection of excavations
b. Protection of buried concrete
c. Back filling behind structures
d. Clearance of inlets and out lets upon completion of work.
e. The proper finish of exposed concrete surface.
f. The method and satisfactory curing of concrete
g. The safety measures at site .
12. The Bridge/Structural Engineer will report to the RE and will undertake all other duties assigned by RE.
